What about a convention in Venice?

It’s almost impossible talking about Italy and not mentioning Venice, probably one of the most beautiful and romantic cities in the world. Furthermore Venice is steeped in history and tradition and, with more than 200 canals and 400 bridges, it’s the perfect place for your event. Besides, legendary palaces, rich in history and terraces with breathtaking views of the canals create the perfect backdrop for unforgettable gala dinners.

Hilton Molino Stucky is one of the greatest hotels in Venice thanks to its unique and unquestionable charm and superb location, on the banks of Giudecca Island. The building is a former flour mill refurbished to become a unique hotel with 379 rooms and the largest Congress Center in Venice with its 1,000 m² ballroom and 14 fully equipped conference rooms.

The Gritti Palace Hotel is one of the world’s most celebrated hotels, now re-opened after an extensive handcrafted restoration, an historical treasure where heritage and culture have blended with renewed Venetian style. The Gritti Palace Hotel has 82 accommodations, each a work of Venetian art in itself, including a collection of 21 sumptuous suites. The Gritti Palace is an exclusive venue for meetings and special events with a meeting room that can host up to 100 attendees. Furthermore, the Restaurant Club del Doge has an exceptional cuisine, an exclusive atmosphere and dramatic views of the city.

Talking about special venues for your gala dinner I would suggest Palazzo Grassi, Punta della Dogana and the Teatrino that recently open their doors to private events after the restoration works led by by Tadao Ando. While Palazzo Grassi and Punta della Dogana offer the possibility of spending an evening immersed in the art world, surrounded by works of art and installations by major contemporary artists, the Teatrino enables to organize events in an auditorium with the best technological facilities and comfort. The unusual combination of closed and open-air spaces of the three venues makes it possible to plan your event in a very evocative setting and throughout the entire year.

The Scuola Grande di San Giovanni Evangelista is another interesting location for your gala dinner hosting up to 300 people. The Scuola Grande is known for its magnificent scenarios and artworks of Tintoretto, Palma il Giovane and Tiepolo. It is one of the six Scuole Grandi that played an important part in the complex Venetian system of social checks and balances.

Venice is also a perfect setting for an original team building activity. It could be a great idea sending to the participants an invitation to a masked ball at one of the city’s historic “palazzo” to experience, first hand, the magical atmosphere of Carnival in Venice, famed throughout the world for its elegant, sophisticated masks. The team building activity will be organized involving the creation of a mask that participants will wear to the ball. Furthermore you cannot miss the unforgettable experience of a  boat trip on a gondola, the traditional, flat-bottomed rowing boat well suited to the conditions of the Venetian lagoon.

For your sightseeing let’s start with the highlights of the city itself, like Fenice’s theater, Bovolo snail staircase, Rialto Bridge, moving then to the Venetian countryside with the visit of a Palladian Villa, for example Villa Barbaro, followed by some  hill towns like Marostica, Bassano del Grappa and Asolo.

Next time back to my “home region”.

Greetings from Venice!
