Let’s go back to the South of Italy, taking into consideration one of the most beautiful Italian Coasts. Sorrento is the perfect place for your meeting, surrounded by extraordinary landscape where sea and mountain, deep valleys and citrus groves plateau alternate.
Sorrento is the land of colors. If you just spend a moment to observe how emotional a sunset can be when you gaze in the direction of Punta del Capo, of Ischia or Procida islands, you will be amazed by the variety of colors and the beauty of the landscape. It’s no accident that, during the 19th century, Sorrento was one of the cities of the so-called “Grand Tour”, a journey through the most important Italian sites that every young European noble of the time had to make to complete his cultural, historical and literary formation.
For your convention I would suggest a couple of hotels.
Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria is one of my favorite in Sorrento. An historic five stars deluxe with 96 rooms and 6 different theatre style meeting rooms seating from 30 to 250 people. Located on a high cliff in Sorrento, with spectacular views of the Gulf of Naples and Mount Vesuvius, it’s really a luxury hotel of exclusive style and elegant charm.
For larger groups I would suggest Hilton Sorrento Palace. The epitome of style and functionality, the Hotel combines elegant contemporary design with warm Mediterranean welcome. 373 modern rooms and 24 meeting rooms or 3 auditoriums, the largest of which can accommodate up to 1500 delegates.
About Restaurants I would suggest ‘O Parrucchiano (which stands for parish-priest in Neapolitan dialect ), one of the historical restaurant of Sorrento with a unique ambient, a garden with trees, flowers of every kind, lemon trees (symbol of Sorrento); the ideal place for your event!
The restaurant Antico Francischiello “Da Peppino” could be another interesting location for your dinner. Along the panoramic road linking Sorrento with the enchanting town of Massa Lubrense you can taste the dishes of the Neapolitan gastronomical tradition with a breathtaking view on the island of Capri. The Restaurant Antico Francischiello has three large and characteristic lounges finely furnished in 19th-century style and it can accommodate up to 350 people.
The perfect place for you gala dinner is The Restaurant Relais Blu, located right in the heart of the Marine Reserve of Punta Campanella, between the Amalfi coast and the Sorrento Peninsula. The restaurant offers superlative contemporary Italian and international cuisine with amazing views of the entire Sorrento coast. Relais Blu is recommended by the leading culinary guides and it is one of the area’s favorite dining venues in virtue of its innovative kitchen and fabulous location.
Regarding the activities you could organize for your group I would suggest a wine tasting. There are many wine companies in the area like, for example, Sorrentino’s Wine Company, on the on the way to Naples.
You could even organize oil tasting of the famous Sorrento Olive Oil at Frantoio Gargiulo situated on the hills of Sorrento. Here you can visit the olive grove, the old and the new mills and, at the end of tour, tasting the extra-virgin olive oil with some typical products.
Continuing to talk about tasting I would suggest Michelangelo Cheese Factory where you can organize for your clients a very tasteful “making your own mozzarella activity”!
About sightseeing you cannot miss the excavations of Pompeii, the only archaeological site in the world, along with that of Herculaneum, capable of returning visitors a Roman town, whose life has remained firm to a distant morning in 79 AD. By decree of 1997 Pompeii was included among the sites that are considered World Heritage by UNESCO.
Form Sorrento, with a short boat trip you will reach the stunningly beautiful island of Capri, or you can explore the alluring hotspots of Positano and Ravello on the gorgeous Amalfi Coast declared one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites for its undisputed beauty and the uniqueness of its natural landscape.
Next time one of the most beautiful Italian countryside!
Greeting from Italy!
